Algae detection
Algae are autotrophic, unicellular or multicellular and photosynthetic organisms. In activated sludge systems, its presence is not quite common due to the turbidity of the environment and the absence of light necessary for its development. In this type of system, in some cases, there is proliferation of filamentous algae that affect the sedimentability, when in excess, and thus must be monitored, in addition to operational actions to solve this problem. In stabilization pond systems, they play an important role in providing oxygen to these locations, but when in excess they can indicate the high presence of some nutrients, in addition to increasing turbidity and, in some cases, may even change the system pH.
